Welcome!
(will post here when a roomie has been found and the place is definitely filled)
*The place:
--Top floor, excellent view of mountains, lake union, gasworks, downtown, space needle
--Large balcony, coin-op washer/dryer on same floor
--Partially furnished, carpeted, large closets, lots of living room space
--Wireless internet
--Near 5 buslines, on-street parking very available, I'm currently using the spot allotted to the apt. in the parking lot behind the building, but would split the cost of a parking permit for either of us.
--1 bathroom (with bathtub, great water pressure for shower), 1 kitchen (with dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, large refrigerator, lots of cabinet/closet space), 2 bedrooms with lots of closet space, large storage closet.
*Prices: $595/mo (I pay a bit more because my room is a bit larger) utilities not included, average for winter/summer is $30/mo per person wireless internet: $23/mo per person.
Wanted up front: 1st & last month's rent, $30 credit check. Also a $250 damage deposit-- already paid; you'd reimburse me at some agreed-upon point.
*1 roommate (me): close to 30, professional, female, lesbian, private, lives quietly, generally clean but not a neatfreak, chill, lots of books, flexible, humanities MA, international experience
I like foreign/queer films, but not tv, and don't own a tv-- but you could have one in your room.
I try to live pretty green, but am not nutty about it.
*Desired in roommate: responsible, open-minded, generally clean, nice, international experience/interest? creative? any color? wants to cook a meal with me occasionally? other languages?
*other notes:
--smoking outdoors only (I do sometimes, but also try to quit sometimes, no promises on that scale though)
--landlords will conduct credit check and would like a 1-year commitment; anything different would need to be negotiated with them, from talking with them, it sounds somewhat unlikely.
--first & last rent wanted when moving in
Best time to view the apt. is on weekends or after 6 during the week.
May be open to having a cat, depending on the cat, if you have a cat, landlords need a $250 cat deposit.

the view & the balcony
(space needle is also visible, & all of queen anne)
looking northeast
great on new year's & 4th of July-- fireworks directly in front of apt. breakfast, dinner, or whatever on the balcony is also lovely.
ample parking on street, it's zone 8, buslines around either corner (70, 71, 72, 73, 49, 25, 66 also nearby) & shopping in area. Also a parking lot behind the building with one spot which corresponds to the apartment. If both of us have cars, we'd have to work out who parks in the spot and probably split the cost of a street permit for the other. Pros and cons to each: cars in the parking lot are broken into more often (though the neighborhood is generally very safe), to the street it's about a 200-foot longer walk.
living area
your room?
The room I've been living in looks just like it, but is a bit larger. I may be open to switching if you have lots of furniture and/or want to have your office in your room; I've been paying a bit more per month. The bigger room is next to the stairwell & door, the one shown above is across from the bathroom. They get about the same amount of light. Both are big enough to comfortably accomodate a queen-sized bed, a desk, a bookshelf...
etc: laundry room, closet, my office
Super-large storage closet (great for outdoors gear, skis, luggage, etc.)
The back space shown above is where I've been working, as an office, and is pretty much the only space I'm really attached to and feel strongly about keeping with a new roomie. Otherwise am flexible & open to rearranging in terms of funiture & interested to hear your ideas on the matter, and may be open to switching bedrooms. Both bedrooms are big enough to comfortably accomodate desks as well as queen-sized beds & bookshelves. The back bedroom, however, doesn't get good wireless.
dealbreakers?
The carpet is stained in places. If it were replaced for us, rent would go up by $75 (it hasn't been raised in the last 5 years), and we'd also need to pay the extra cost ($3-400) of having it replaced with furniture inside. At this point, I'm not up for it, but maybe later.
more info: landlords, FAQ's & about me
The landlords: wonderful, nice, helpful, live off-property but visit once a week to sweep & vacuum common areas, and make sure everything's in order, etc. Fix things immediately.
What don't I like about the place? I love hardwood floors and really high celings, and they're not here-- but the light and balcony keep it from feeling claustrophobic. Sometimes I miss living in cap. hill, which is about a mile away by foot. But it's very quiet in Eastlake, which is relaxing, and it's a short walk to a water park, and couple of good cafes nearby. There's a school at the end of the block, and when school starts or ends, the block can be a bit congested with parents getting their kids and I always worry that one will run out in front of me if I'm driving. I'm open to getting some different furniture in the living area.
Is there an elevator? No, but it's not really needed; the stairs at the entrance start in the middle of the building and go in both directions, so there are about 18 steps total up to the apt.
Visitors? Sure. I give advance notice, you give advance notice, and nobody stays longer than a week at the very very most; 1-3 days is ideal.
Parties? Occasionally... I give lots of advance notice, and so do you.
Spontaneously bringing home a pal/date for coffee, dinner, etc.? Probably fine, if done considerately.
Spontaneously bringing home a group of friends and staying up late here drinking? No, not if I'm here.
What are your dreams for the apartment? Well, I think it would be nice to have some benches and flowers/plants on the balcony. As mentioned before, other colors on the furniture, or different furniture in the living area. At some point, I would love to own a beamer to project foreign movies up onto the blank wall across from the sofa. More cool art. Maybe more plants or a goldfish.
More about me:
I've left grad school and am currently temping and applying for other jobs, hoping to further my experience in IT.
I'm vegetarian but eat fish, milk and eggs, and don't mind if there's meat around or in dishes.
I cook to live rather than live to cook, and don't spend a ton of time in the bathroom-- the exception is the occasional bath.
I would call myself creative, introspective, sensitive, curious, intelligent.
I like to drink wine with dinner and play classical music, but am open to other sorts of music too.
I usually go shop at Trader Joe's or at the Broadway Market, and go up to cap. hill on the weekend evenings. Sometimes I go hiking or exploring.
I speak three languages (English included) well and am trying to further others. I grew up in CO, went to an all-women's college on the east coast, and have lived overseas for 4 years.
Stuff we'd need...
--Kitchen is mostly equipped, could use more pots and pans.
--The vacuum cleaner has broken. If you have one you'll bring, great!
--I'm working on finding a more reliable wireless router, & would want to split the cost. Already have great working equipment for an internet phone (runs about $13/mo w/unlimited long distance), if that's something you'd want to have.
